I’m almost 20, back when I was 12 I stopped drinking soda and switched to Gatorade. Not knowing that you’re only supposed to drink gatorade when you’re exercising I apparently dried out my stool and become unable to use the bathroom because it hurt dreadfully bad and I’d even bleed. I’d be forced to stay on the couch for weeks on end, held my stool in for months till I’d eventually go. Finally in 8th grade I went to the hospital and they gave me medicine to make it so I could go without pain. I’m almost twenty now and if I forget to take my medicine for a few days it goes back to the way it was when I was 11… I just want to be able to go to the bathroom normally, I know I’m still completely backed up. I spoke with my doctor and he says to just take the medicine. I don’t want to take that stuff for the rest of my life… it’s disgusting… and I leave for bootcamp in April, I need to be able to go to the bathroom normally cause I won’t be able to take the medication there… I did not tell them about, a. cause I forgot then after I realized I forgot i then was worried it would disqualify me so I kept my mouth shut.
Needless to say, is there a miracle pill? anything I can do myself or do I have to beg my doctor to do something… clean me out. I can’t fleet, I try but I can’t hold it in, and it hurts… I need something else.

i had a problem like that when i was younger so my mom took me to a GI Doctor who said to clear out your bowels you could go to a pharmacy and get a bottle of magnesium citrate and drink that.. even though it tastes awful it can really help. and its not something you take all the time, it’s supposed to be something to take once and its supposed to make you go to the bathroom well A LOT and then your bowel movements will start to go back to normal.. or how they are supposed to be and get on track and then you wont have to worry about any of it. also if you decide to drink it you should drink a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated so that you dont make yourself sick or something.
if you feel that is too extreme then you could always try out a powder called miralax that you put in whatever kind of drink you want.. but they say water or juice is better.. and you just mix it in and it dissolves and you dont taste it at all and it makes you go to the bathroom too.. but not as fast or as much as the magnesium citrate and possibly with less pain if you are impacted like you say.
p.s. if you do drink the magnesium citrate and you end up in the bathroom for a long time.. you should probably buy some.. like flushable baby wipes to give yourself a break because it can become uncomfortable.
p.s. again: i read some of the comments and yes there is such a thing as a few years of constipation or a few years of being backed up. and i say that because it happened to me when i was younger being why i know what to write here lol
Start eating oatmeal, high fiber cereals (20% or more of RDA), fresh fruits and vegetables. Lots of beans, peas, and raw nuts.
These foods will get your digestive system moving and keep you regular.
Luck.
probiotics and activia yogurt. best way to regulate ur digestive system. also, make sure you have plenty of fiber in your diet. if you want a good head start, get started on a colon cleansing pill for a few days
No such thing as a FEW YEARS of backed up stool, but the best solution to constipation is taking four to five magnesium tablets (250 mg each) with a glassful of purple grape juice on an empty stomach (when you first awaken in the morning). They should start to work in about an hour or two and may continue to work for four or five hours, so be near a toilet for at least four hours. After two hours you may start eating breakfast, preferably lots of fruit or veggies. To stay regular do the same thing with three magnesium tablets and purple grape juice every morning. Two tablets is better if it works — see the least amount that works for you. Also stay away from rice and other starchy foods if possible because they stop you up.
Good luck.
Use enemas, laxatives, and milk of mangesia. Use that for abbout a week until your stools are empty. While doing this, I recommend that you also fast for a day and drink lots of water to give your insides a chance to heal. After doing so, recommend a VERY high fiber diet and a low fat diet. Fiber will help you go regularly.
